Barbital buffer has been used:
  • to cast 1% agarose gels and to run agarose gel electrophoresis[1]
  • to perform electrophoresis for lipoprotein-X (Lp-X) and lipoprotein separation[2]
  • to perform electrophoresis for lipoprotein analysis[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

The most commonly used buffer for immunoelectrophoresis or immunodiffusion of protein on agarose gels or cellulose acetate. It is also used for separation of serum proteins, lipoproteins and isoenzymes.
