Gamborg's B-5 Basal Medium with Minimal Organics is a plant tissue culture medium that contains reduced amounts of organic compounds compared to the standard Gamborg's B-5 Basal Medium. The minimal organics version is designed to provide a lower concentration of organic compounds, such as vitamins or amino acids, which allows for more precise control over nutrient supplementation in plant tissue culture experiments. Please see the link below to review the formulation tables for Gamborg's basal salt mixtures, products G5893 and G5768.

General description
Gamborg′ B-5 medium may be purchased as a complete medium (G5893) or reconstituted from Vitamin 1000x (G1019) and Basal Salt Mixture (G5768) chemstocks. Use Gamborg′s B-5 (B5) medium for in vitro culture of plant cell lines and tissues such as of Taxus globosa, Splachnum ampullaceum Hedw, Linum album, Eucalyptus camaldulensis. Gamborg′s B-5 medium has been used for the culture of Annona squamosa callus.
Gamborg′s B-5 basal medium is an efficient nutrient mixture for plants.
Application
Gamborg′s B-5 Basal Medium with Minimal Organics has also been used:
- as a component of liquid media for the tissue culture of Brassica rapa
- as a component of callus inducing medium for culturing Arabidopsis cardiolipin mutant seedlings[1]
- as a component of solid GM medium for germination of Arabidopsis seeds[2]
Preparation Note
Formulated to contain 3.2 grams of powder per liter of medium.
With the macro- and micronutrients, and vitamins as described by Gamborg, et al. (1968).

Plant cells grow as aggregates in suspension culture, but little is known about the dynamics of aggregation, and no routine methodology exists to measure aggregate size. In this study, we evaluate several different methods to characterize aggregate size in Taxus
