The storage stability of this product at -80°C has not been tested, and stability depends on factors such as solvent composition, freeze-thaw cycles, and storage conditions. Typical stock solutions can be prepared at concentrations of 50–500 mg solid (powder) in 1 ml water. Solutions should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C. This product can be stored in working aliquots in tightly sealed containers at -20°C for 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. What is the molecular weight (MW) of progesterone? How should I account for the fact that the compound contains approximately 70 mg of progesterone per gram, with the remainder being methyl-β-cyclodextrin? How many milligrams of this mixture do I need
1 answer-
The molecular weight for the compound progesterone is 314.46 g/mole. When calculating molar (e.g., :M, mM, etc.) solutions, the molecular weight of
the cyclodextrin component of the complex is typically disregarded, and the solution is prepared considering the amount of the hormone in the preparation and its respective molecular weight. The lot specific certificate of analysis can be reviewed to determine the mg of progesterone present in the solid. This value can then be converted to a mole value with the molecular weight and the solution volume being adjusted to reach the desired concentration.Helpful?
