- Polymerase-Kettenreaktion (PCR)
- Amplifikation von cDNA-Bibliotheken
- DNA-Sequenzierung
- Säulen-Ladepuffer für die Poly(A)+ RNA-Selektion
- Puffer für die Transformation kompetenter E. coli
- Transfektionsprotokolle
Dimethylsulfoxid wird verwendet:
- als Lösungsmittel für Oligonukleotide beim Array-Spotting[1]
- als Lösungsmittel bei der miRNA-Microarray-Analyse und der quantitativen Echtzeit-PCR (qRT-PCR)
- für die Zelllyse während des MTT (3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-Diphenyltetrazolium-Bromid)-Assays
- für die Herstellung der Stammlösung während der zytofluorimetrischen Bewertung des MMP (mitochondriales Membranpotential)
- bei der Lagerung menschlicher und tierischer Zelllinien und Bakteriophage λ als Kryoprotektor.

DMSO supercools easily, and re-melts slowly at room temperature. The melting point is 16-19 °C. The solidified product can be re-liquefied by warming to room temperature without detriment to the product.
