クロキサシリンは半合成抗生物質でオキサシリンの塩素化誘導体です。クロキサシリンは、細胞溶解をもたらすペニシリン結合タンパク質（PBP）に結合することによって、バクテリアの細胞壁合成の最終段階を阻害します。細胞溶解はバクテリアの細胞壁自己融解酵素によってもたらされます。クロキサシリンはしばしば、β-ラクタム抗生物質と併用したAmpC β-ラクタマーゼ阻害薬として使用されます。
