Beschreibung

General description

Dieser MRS-Agar enthält pflanzliche statt tierische Peptone. Das Medium wird für die Isolierung und Kultivierung von Lactobacilli-Spezies empfohlen.

Application

MRS Agar, Vegitone has been used for culturing yogurt to analyze lactic acid bacteria (LAB).[1] It has also been used in culturing of Lactobacillus reuteri colonies.[2]

Preparation Note

Suspend 62.2 g in 1000 ml distilled water containing 1 ml polysorbate 80 (TWEEN^® 80; Cat. No. P8074). Boil to dissolve the medium completely and mix thoroughly. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes. If necessary adjust the pH with glacial acetic acid after sterilization.
