Beschreibung

Allgemeine Beschreibung

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a retinal phospholipid, which carries long-chain highly unsaturated fatty acyl groups.[1]

Anwendung

14:0 PS may be used as an internal standard for spiking serum lipid samples for liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis [2] and as a component in the phospholipid monolayer to mimic model cancer cell membrane for the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOx) interaction studies.[3] It has been used in lipid binding assay to assess the binding of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs).[4]

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Phosphatidylserine (PS) helps to activate protein kinase C (PKC). It may possess anti-inflammatory properties. PS is also known to participate in tyrosine hydroxylase activation. It is also involved in the uptake of Ca2+ and glucose.[5]
