Gas phase reactions of the rare earth metal cations with tripropyl orthoformate were studied by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry.[1]

Tripropyl orthoformate was used as alcohol donor to investigate the activity and enantioselectivity of Novozym 435 in the esterification of rac-fenoprofen in methylcyclohexane.[2] It may be used as a drying agent during the synthesis of squaraine derivatives.[3][4][5]
