Descrição geral

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is an essential metabolite for membrane biosynthesis. LPA interacts with the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), called the LPA receptor and mediates signaling.[1] Oleoyl-L-α-lysophosphatidic acid activates the receptor LPA4.[2] In keratinocytes, oleoyl-L-α-lysophosphatidic acid promotes growth to some extent.[3]

Aplicação

Oleoyl-L-α-lysophosphatidic acid sodium salt has been used:
  • for the activation of Ras homolog gene family, member A (RhoA) and expression of claudin-1 in human breast cancer epithelial cell line[4]
  • in RH7777 cells for cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) accumulation assay and calcium mobilisation assay[5]
  • in vitro luciferase assay and live-cell imaging[6]

Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

Endogenous agonist for LPA1 and LPA2 receptors. LPA does not induce angiogenesis, but has effects on endothelial cell physiology that are similar to those of sphingosine 1-phosphate. Induces cell migration of cancer and non-cancer cells.

This review discusses multiple effects of sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) and lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) on endothelial cells and proposes that S1P and LPA are important regulators of the vascular system. Two physiologic sources of S1P and LPA are platelets and lipoproteins.

Questions

1–4 of 4 Questions
  1. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

  2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  3. What substance can be used to dissolve this product?

    1 answer
    1. Water is typically not an ideal solvent for lipids. The choice of solvent depends on the intended application. A mixture of chloroform, methanol, and acetic acid at a ratio of 95:5:5, could be considered. Ideally, consulting the scientific literature would be necessary to determine if a specific solvent is used for the intended application.

  4. Is this version of the compound cell culture grade?

    1 answer
    1. This product is not cell culture grade. Unfortunately, there is not a LPA sodium salt offered that is cell culture suitable. The suitability for this product in cell culture would have to be determined by the end-user.
