Descrição geral

Tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene, PCE), is a chlorinated ethylene compound commonly used as a dry cleaning and degreasing solvent.[1] It shows IR transparency as it has no C–H bonds making it an ideal solvent for IR spectroscopy.[2][3] PCE is a man-made pollutant which is difficult to degrade.[4] It is a ground water contaminant[5] which has adverse effect on human health due to its potential toxicity and carcinogenicity.[6] Some of the methods proposed for its degradation are Fenton oxidation treatment,[7] reductive dehalogenation under methanogenic condition,[6] and reduction using zero valent metal ions.[5] One of the methods reported for its synthesis is from ethylene dichloride and chlorine.[8]

Aplicação

Tetrachloroethylene may be used as a film-forming electrolyte additive in the manufacture of lithium ion batteries.[9] It may also be used as an extractant for the estimation of oil and grease in water by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).[2]
Tetrachloroethylene may be used as a starting material in the synthesis of unsym.-heptachloropropane.[10] It may also be used as a solvent in the preparation of 1-chloro-1-(trichloroethenyl)cyclopropane from tetrachlorocyclopropene and ethylene.[11]

  1. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.   2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
