Application

Acriflavin wird verwendet, um RNA-Moleküle mit hoher Molekülmasse fluoreszierend zu markieren .
Anregungs- (ex) und Emissionswellenlängen (em) in verschiedenen Lösungsmitteln:

• Methanol: λex = 424 nm; λem = 518 nm
• Ethanol: λex = 426 nm; λem = 524 nm
• Propanol: λex = 430 nm; λem = 512 nm
• Butanol: λex = 430 nm; λem = 526 nm
• Formamid: λex = 434 nm; λem = 524 nm
• Glycerin: λex = 432 nm; λem = 540 nm
• Wasser: λex = 416 nm; λem = 514 nm

Unlöslich in Ether, Chloroform und fetten Ölen. Wird für Fluoreszenzmessungen im stationären Zustand als Donormolekül verwendet (wenn es mit Rhodamin 6G als Akzeptor gepaart ist), um als ein pH-Sensor zu dienen .

• Acriflavin wurde im Agglutinationstest zur Unterscheidung zwischen der glatten und rauen Koloniebildung von Brucella meltensis eingesetzt.
• Es wird auch als ein Ago2(Argonautenprotein 2)-Inhibitor eingesetzt.[1]
• Es wird als ein Inhibitor der HIF-ARNT-Komplexbildung (Hypoxie-induzierbarer Faktor - Aryl-Hydrocarbon-Rezeptor-Zellkerntranslokator) eingesetzt.[2]
• Es wurde zur Untersuchung der Bakterozinproduktion durch Carnobacterium piscicola eingesetzt.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Acriflavin wechselwirkt mit HIF-1α (Hypoxie-induzierbarer Faktor 1α) und HIF-2α, und unterdrückt somit die Dimerbildung von HIF-1 und die Transkriptionsfunktion. Es hat auch eine negative Auswirkung auf das Tumorwachstum und die Gefäßbildung. Acriflavin weist außerdem trypanozide, antibakterielle und antivirale Wirkungen auf.[3]
