Allgemeine Beschreibung

Tween® 80 ist ein nichtionisches Detergens und Tensid, das als Ester von Sorbitan und Ölsäure klassifiziert ist. Es handelt sich um eine vielseitige Verbindung, die häufig in verschiedenen biologischen Anwendungen eingesetzt wird, einschließlich Zelllyse, Isolierung von Zellkernen und Zellfraktionierung. Darüber hinaus wird Tween® 80 zur Stabilisierung von Proteinen und zur Unterstützung bei Proteinmembranstudien eingesetzt. Seine Wirksamkeit ist auf seine Zugehörigkeit zur Polysorbat-Gruppe zurückzuführen, die durch die Kombination von Sorbitol- und Sorbitan-Ölsäureestern mit Polyethylenglykolketten gekennzeichnet ist. Diese strukturellen Merkmale tragen zu den Emulgatoreigenschaften von Tween® 80 und einer Vielzahl von Anwendungen bei.

Anwendung

Nichtionisches Detergens zur selektiven Proteinextraktion und Isolierung von Zellkernen aus Säugerzelllinien.
TWEEN® 80 wird als Trägerstofflösung für spezifische Injektionen in Mäusen und Ratten genutzt.[1][2] Es wird für die Bestimmung der Esterase-Aktivität in Bakterienzellen verwendet.[3]

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

TWEEN® 80 ist ein Polysorbat-Tensid, das zur Stabilisierung von Proteinen beiträgt und für Proteinmembran-Studien hilfreich ist. Es wird regelmäßig zur Extraktion von Membranproteinen und zur Isolierung von Zellkernen verwendet.[4][5][6]

If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.     1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

    1. This product is not tested for boiling point. However, various reference sources cite a boiling point of approximately 100°C.

  5. Hello, Is there an expiration date or retest date for this product?

    1. This product is not assigned an expiration date. It is assigned a recommended retest date of approximately 4 years after the quality release date. A recommended retest date is the time during which the product is expected to remain within established stability specifications, provided that it has been stored under defined conditions. After the Retest Date, product samples should be examined to ensure that the product is still in compliance with the established specifications.

    1. No. Product P1754 is not tested for contaminating RNase and DNase activity.  Product P5188 is a Molecular Biology grade product that has been tested for DNase and RNase.

    1. Yes. According to Sigma-Aldrich's specifications, Product No. P1754 can appear bright yellow to yellow with a green cast.  Please see our Specification Sheet for more information.

  10. Is Product P1754, TWEEN® 80, sterile?

    1. The product is not sterile. Autoclaving a solution of TWEEN 80 is generally not advised. Sterile filtration is more easily done if the liquid is warmed to about 40°C and alternate portions of hot distilled water and TWEEN 80 are poured through the 0.22 μm filter. The TWEEN 80 will blend and remain in solution.
