Opis ogólny

Eagle′s minimum essential medium (MEM) is a synthetic culture medium, which is composed of balanced salt solutions, and amino acids and vitamins. These components are essential for the growth of cultured cells. MEM might be supplemented with non-essential amino acids, to make MEM non-essential amino acid solution. The non-essential amino acids include L-alanine, L-asparagine, L-aspartic acid, L-glycine, L-serine, L-proline and L-glutamic acid.[1]

Zastosowanie

Adding supplements of amino acids to media both stimulates growth and prolongs the viability of cells in culture. MEM Non-essential Amino Acid Solution supplement adds nutrients and reduces the biosynthetic burden on cell in vitro.
MEM Non-essential Amino Acid Solution has been used in Dulbecco′s minimum essential media for the maintenance of mammalian cells.[2] It has been supplemented in medium prepared for oocyte maturation.[3][4]

Studies on hybridoma culture shows that addition of Eagle′s minimum essential medium (MEM) non-essential amino acid leads to enhanced membrane stability, during death phase of the culture. This also results in increased antibody secretion during death phase, and decreased lactate concentration.[5]

    1. M7145 is a 100X solution of amino acids (Ala, Asn, Asp, Glu, Gly, Pro and Ser). The concentration of each of the seven amino acid at 100X is 10 mM; therefore at 1X, the concentration of each of them is 0.1 mM.

  4. Can I store Product M7145, MEM Non-essential Amino Acids, 100X solution at -20°C?

    1. Product M7145 is a 100X solution of non-essential amino acids that should be stored at 2-8 °C for maximum stability. If the product is properly stored and handled, we guarantee the product for one year after it is received. We have not tested the stability of the product at -20°C for long term storage, so we do not recommend aliquoting and freezing the product. It is likely that storage at -20°C will cause precipitation of some of the amino acids upon thawing. If precipitation occurs, the product should not be used.
