酵素のグルタチオンS-トランスフェラーゼ（GST）ファミリーは、いわゆるGST遺伝子融合システムの作成に使用される多数のサイトゾル、ミトコンドリア、およびミクロソームのタンパク質で構成されています。これらのタンパク質は、多数の基質との複数の反応が可能です。解毒および毒性メカニズムに関与しています。[1]GSTタグは220個のアミノ酸を有しており、mycタグやFLAGタグなど非常に小さい他のタグに比べて比較的大きいサイズです。GSTを用いて対象タンパク質を精製および検出することができます。GST遺伝子融合システムでは、発現ベクターは対象タンパク質をコードする遺伝子配列およびGST配列で構成されます。誘導後、融合タンパク質はグルタチオンに対する高親和性によりアフィニティークロマトグラフィーを用いて精製できます。
