抗酸化物質であり、ピルビン酸デヒドロゲナーゼやグリシンデカルボキシラーゼといった酵素の複合体が活性を発揮する上で必要となる補酵素でもあります。
抗酸化物質であり、ピルビン酸デヒドロゲナーゼやグリシンデカルボキシラーゼといった酵素の複合体が活性を発揮する上で必要となる補酵素でもあります。外来のThioctic acidは2種類以上の酵素によって細胞内で還元されます。還元されたThioctic acidは、直接的なラジカル除去、他の抗酸化物質のリサイクル、グルタチオン合成量の増加、転写因子(特に核内因子NF-κB)活性の調節を介して、多数の細胞内プロセスに影響します。マクロファージによるミエリンの食作用を抑制します。
