Riboflavin 5′-phosphate (flavin mononucleotide (FMN)) is a vitamin B₁₂ derivative, containing isoalloxazine ring system.[1]

Application

Riboflavin 5′-phosphate sodium salt hydrate has been used:

• as a photosensitizing agent to assess in vitro efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) on fungi[2]
• to evaluate its in vivo delivery in rat corneas[3]
• as a component in Vitamin and growth factor stock mix[4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Riboflavin 5′-phosphate (flavin mononucleotide (FMN)) acts as a coenzyme in intermediary metabolism. Phosphorylation of vitamin B₁₂ by flavokinase yields FMN.[1]
