This product is a combination of active (low molecular weight) and inactive (high molecular weight) urokinase. The composition of the CC4000 product is as follows:
Low molecular weight urokinase (33 kD) 50%
High molecular weight urokinase (54 kD) 40%
Transient forms of urokinase 10%
Activation prior to use is not required.
uPA is produced as an inactive form called pro-uPA which is 54KDa. Pro-uPA is cleaved by proteases to produce a low molecular weight active form that is 33 kDa. This cleavage by plasmin occurs in two steps. The transitory form is the result of the first cleavage step. The second cleavage of this transient form results in the active 33 kDa uPA.
