Beschreibung

General description

Harnstoff ist eine farb- und geruchslose Flüssigkeit. Er enthält prismatische Kristalle. Er bildet unlösliche Nitratsalze mit Salpetersäure und Oxalatsalze mit Oxalsäure. Bei einer Reaktion mit Alkanen oder substituierten Alkanen entstehen Kristallgitter-Einschlussverbindungen.
Harnstoff kann im Haber-Bosch-Verfahren aus Ammoniak und Kohlendioxid hergestellt werden. Er eignet sich auch zur Herstellung von Harnstoff-Formaldehyd-Harzen mittels einer Kondensationsreaktion.

Application

Harnstoff wurde in den folgenden Untersuchungen verwendet:

• Synthese von SnO₂-Nanopartikeln.[1]
• Synthese von Urethanen, Ureiden und Semicarbaziden.
• Denaturierung von aus dem Saccharomyces-cerevisiae-Y15696-Stamm isolierten Protein[2]
• Protein-Elektrophorese-Studien.[3]

Wird für die Denaturierung von Proteinen und als mildes Mittel zur Solubilisierung unlöslicher oder denaturierter Proteine?? verwendet. Nützlich für die Renaturierung von Proteinen aus Proben, die bereits mit 6 M Guanidinchlorid vergällt sind, wie z.B. Einschlüssen. Kann mit Guanidin-hydrochlorid und Dithiothreitrol (DTT) für die Rückfaltung von denaturierten Proteinen in ihre native oder aktive Form eingesetzt werden.
