生物化学的／生理学的作用
顆粒球単球コロニー刺激因子 (GM-CSF) は、顆粒球、マクロファージ、および好酸球系統の細胞にとっての成長および分化因子です。GM-CSFは、極めて低い濃度で多能性始原細胞のコロニー形成を刺激しますが、多能性始原細胞にとっては成熟するまでのすべての段階において不可欠な、生存および増殖因子です。 また、一部の上皮細胞および破骨細胞の成長も刺激します。GM-CSFはさまざまな細胞型 (単球、内皮細胞、T細胞、線維芽細胞、マイトジェン刺激を受けたB細胞、およびLPS刺激を受けたマクロファージ) によって産生されます。GM-CSFは、ヒトの場合は128のアミノ酸残基を有する、ジスルフィド結合が保存された単鎖糖タンパク質として分泌されます。 ヒトとネズミのGM-CSFは54％の配列相同性を有していますが、生理活性において交差反応は生じません。

The ED50 was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells is less than or equal to 0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of greater than or equal to 1 x 107 units/mg. So the 5 microgram package size (G5035-5UG) should have at least 50,000 units per vial.

How does the storage temperature relate to shipping conditions?

The storage conditions that a Sigma-Aldrich catalog and label recommend for products are deliberately conservative. For many products, long-term storage at low temperatures will increase the time during which they are expected to remain in specification and therefore are labeled accordingly.
