The sarcoplasmic reticulum of striated muscle is a specialized intracellular membrane system that plays a critical role in the contraction and relaxation of muscle. The sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPases (SERCAs) mediate Ca2+ uptake into intracellular stores. SERCA mediated Ca2+ uptake induces and maintains muscular relaxation. SERCA1 is expressed in fast-twitch muscles, whereas SERCA2 is expressed in cardiac and slow-twitch muscles. SERCA2 plays an important part in regulating cardiac contractile function.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most chemoresistant cancers. An understanding of the molecular mechanism by which PDAC cells have a high chemoresistant potential is important for improvement of the poor prognosis of patients with PDAC. Here we
Atrial fibrillation (AF) alters atrial cardiomyocyte (ACM) Ca2+ handling, promoting ectopic beat formation. We examined the effects of AF-associated remodeling on Ca2+-related action potential dynamics and consequences for AF susceptibility. AF was maintained electrically in dogs by right atrial (RA)

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is caused by X-linked inherited or de novo DMD gene mutations predominantly affecting males who develop early-onset muscle degeneration, severely affecting their quality of life and leading to reduced life expectancy. DMD patients may also develop
Mutation of the ATP2A2 gene encoding sarco-endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2 (SERCA2) was linked to Darier disease more than 2 decades ago; however, there remain no targeted therapies for this disorder causing recurrent skin blistering and infections. Since Atp2a2-knockout mice

The avian nucleus laminaris (NL) is a brainstem nucleus necessary for binaural processing, analogous in structure and function to the mammalian medial superior olive. In chickens (Gallus gallus), NL is a well-studied model system for activity-dependent neural plasticity. Its neurons
