Descrizione generale

The enzyme aromatase is a member of P450 cytochrome family. Aromatase catalyzes three oxidation reactions of androstenedione A that lead to aromatization of androgens and subsequent synthesis of estrogen. The enzymatic complex of aromatase is a heterocomplex of cytochrome 450 aromatase and NADPH cytochrome P450 reductase.[1][2] The tissues that produce aromatase are placenta, ovary, brain, bone, adipose tissue, skin and testis.[3] The aromatase enzyme complex is present in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum of cells of these tissues.[4] High levels of aromatase and estrogen are produced by the breast cancer cells. Selective aromatase inhibitors are developed to control the recurrence and survival of hormone-dependent breast cancer tissue[1]
Anti-Aromatase specifically recognizes human aromatase (50-55 kDa).

Applicazioni

Anti-Aromatase may be used for immunoblotting at a working concentration of 0.5-1 μg/ml using lysate of human placenta tissue. The antibody has also been used for immunoblotting using whole extracts[5] or nuclear extracts[6] of human primary trophoblasts. For immunofluorescence, a working concentration of 0.5-1 μg/ml is recommended.

Descrizione del bersaglio

Aromatase is part of the cytochrome p450 family of monooxygenases. It is involved in the production of estrogen and found localized to the endoplasmic reticulum of multiple cell types. [7]
