Allgemeine Beschreibung

Glycerin, eine süß schmeckende Flüssigkeit, ist geruchlos, farblos und von Natur aus viskos. Es kann natürlich sowie aus petrochemischen Rohstoffen gewonnen werden. Glycerin ist für verschiedenste Anwendungen geeignet und ist eine der wertvollsten und vielseitigsten natürlichen chemischen Substanzen. Es kann als Weichmacher, Lösungsmittel, Süßungsmittel sowie in pharmazeutischen Formulierungen, Kosmetika, Lebensmitteln und Toilettenartikeln verwendet werden. Es ist sehr stabil und kann leicht bei normalen Temperaturen aufbewahrt werden; es ist außerdem nicht reizend und hat keine nachteiligen Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt.

Anwendung

Glycerin wird bei der Polyacrylamid-Gelelektrophorese sowohl zur Probenvorbereitung als auch zur Gelbildung verwendet. Glycerin (5–10 %) erhöht die Dichte einer Probe, sodass sie zum Boden der Kavität einer Probenplatte sinkt. Glycerin wird auch als Hilfsmittel beim Gießen von Gradientengelen, zur Stabilisierung von Proteinen und als Komponente von Lagerpuffern verwendet.

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Glycerin ist von Natur aus hygroskopisch und aufgrund seiner drei hydrophilen alkoholischen Hydroxylgruppen wasserlöslich. Es kann sowohl inter- als auch intramolekulare Wasserstoffbrückenbindungen bilden und ist daher ein sehr flexibles Molekül. Die physiologische Wirkung von Glycerin beruht auf zellvermittelter Immunität, erhöhter IgG-Produktion und erhöhter Histaminfreisetzung.
Glycerin wird verwendet als:
  • Zusatzstoff bei der Zellkultivierung von Mycobacterium tuberculosis und Mycobacterium avium.
  • Brennstoff bei der Herstellung einer enzymatischen Bio-Brennstoffzelle.
  • flüssige Kompositmatrix mit 4-HCCA und 3-Aminochinolin für die Analyse von neutralen und sauren Glycanen.
  • Matrix für Fast Atom Bombardment MS.
  • Kann als flüssige Matrix für Quantifizierungsstudien mittels MALDI (Matrix-unterstützte Laserdesorptions/Ionisations-Massenspektrometrie) eingesetzt werden.

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.     1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
