Cholecalciferol, also referred to as vitamin D₃, promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the body to regulate bone growth. It is most commonly found in humans and animals and is produced in our skin when exposed to sunlight. It is used to treat and prevent bone disorders (such as rickets, osteomalacia).[1][2]

Anwendung

Cholecalciferol for system suitability may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by liquid chromatography.[3]

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Vitamin D agiert durch einen Rezeptor, der ein Mitglied der ligandenabhängigen Transkriptionsfaktor-Obergruppe ist. Es moduliert das Wachstum und die Differenzierung von normalen Zellen und Krebszellen. Hat wachstums- und Metastasenbildungs-hemmende Effekte auf Brust-, Dickdarm- und Prostatakrebszellen. Aktivierte Vitamin D-Rezeptoren in Darm- und Knochenzellen halten die Calciumabsorption und die Homöostasie aufrecht.

Vitamin D wirkt durch einen Rezeptor, der die Proliferation und Differenzierung von normalen und von Krebszellen moduliert.
