Lennox-Heard reagent (also known as dichloromeldrum′s acid, or DiCMA) is a stable, shelf-stable reagent for the conversion of alkyl and aryl amines to dichloroacetamides. This reagent is atom economical and the byproducts of acetone and CO2 are easily removed, and provides a greener, practical method of installing these medicinally relevant motifs onto a variety of compounds in high yield.
