This staining solution can easily be prepared from Product No. B8522, which is a solution of Brilliant Blue G in methanol/acetic acid. Add water to a final volume of 1 liter.
Procedure for staining IEF gels.
1. Rinse the gel several times with deionized water.
2. Incubate in staining solution for about one hour at room temperature.
3. Prepare the destaining solution by combining 750 ml of methanol (Product No. M3641), 150 ml of glacial acetic acid (Product No. A6283), and 2.1 liters of deionized water.
4. Incubate the gel with destaining solution until the gel is clear, changing the solution frequently. The
times for staining and destaining will vary with the size of the gel and other factors.
