General description
Decan ist ein Alkankohlenwasserstoff. Es liegt in Form einer farblosen, entzündlichen Flüssigkeit vor. Es wird vor allem als Lösungsmittel eingesetzt. In hohen Konzentrationen haben seine Dämpfe eine narkotisierende Wirkung.
Application
Decan kann als interner Standard für die GC-Analyse zur Bestimmung der Produktausbeute während einer eisenkatalysierten Kreuzkopplung verwendet werden, die mit primären/sekundären Alkylhalogeniden mit Aryl-Grignard-Reagenz durchgeführt wird.
