Natives Cathepsin H aus der menschlichen Leber ist das einzige Cathepsin mit Mono-Aminopeptidase-Aktivität.

Application

Cathepsin H wird verwendet, um das Potenzial von Aziridinylpeptiden zu bestimmen, als Inhibitoren dieses Proteins zu wirken und möglicherweise deren therapeutische Anwendungen zu erforschen.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Das aus der menschlichen Leber gewonnene Cathepsin H erfüllt eine Doppelfunktion sowohl als Aminopeptidase als auch als Endopeptidase. Es spielt eine wichtige Rolle beim Katabolismus von Proteinen in Lysosomen. Cathepsin H wird als Endoaminopeptidase klassifiziert, da es Proteine, N-terminal substituierte Proteine, Aminosäurederivate und Peptide mit unterschiedlichen Kettenlängen und N-terminale freie Aminosäurederivate hydrolysieren kann. Dieses Protein weist auch Amidase- und Esterase-Aktivität auf.
