Allgemeine Beschreibung

Polyacrylsäure (PAA) ist hygroskopisch, spröde, von Natur aus farblos mit Tg bei nahezu 106oC. Bei Temperaturen über 200 °C bis 250oC verliert sie Wasser und wird ein unlösliches quervernetztes Polyanhydrid. Die Löslichkeit von getrockneter PAA in Wasser nimmt mit steigender Temperatur zu. Konzentrierte Lösungen von PAA in Wasser sind von Natur aus thixotrop.

Anwendung

PAA kann zum Beispiel für folgende Anwendungen eingesetzt werden:
  • Untersuchung der Diffusion von gelösten Substanzen in einem Polyvinylalkohol-PAA-Copolymerhydrogel[1]
  • Synthese eines Poly(N-isopropylacrylamid)-Block-PAA-Copolymers, das sowohl auf Temperatur- als auch auf pH-Wert-Änderungen reagiert[2]
  • Herstellung eines Block-Copolymers aus Oligo(methylmethacrylat) und PAA für den Transport hydrophober Medikamente in Mizellen[3]
  • Als Verdickungsmittel für Klebstoffe.
