胰凝乳蛋白酶原A需要有限的蛋白水解才能激活。胰凝乳蛋白酶原A可由胰蛋白酶和胰凝乳蛋白酶激活（自溶激活）以形成 m α、β、γ、δ和π胰凝乳蛋白酶（取决于激活条件）。[7]胰凝乳蛋白酶原是一种蛋白酶，优先裂解芳香族氨基酸（包括色氨酸、酪氨酸和苯丙氨酸）羧基侧的肽。它也水解亮氨酸、蛋氨酸和丙氨酸羧基侧的肽。[8]

单位定义

活化为硝酸凝乳蛋白酶后，在 pH 7.8、25°C 条件下，1 个单位将每分钟水解 1.0 μmol BTEE。
