生化/生理作用

琼脂糖作为胶凝剂,可通过电泳法分离核酸,因为它的凝胶在低浓度下比聚丙烯酰胺凝胶拥有更大的孔径。与聚丙烯酰胺不同,凝胶的稠度更固态(但也更低弹性)。它还可用于测定研究抗体抗原沉淀线的免疫电泳(IEP)和Ouchterlony(双扩散)板的交叉反应。琼脂糖用于在组织培养基中为细胞形成凝胶隔板或覆盖层。此外,还用于在色谱分离中形成凝胶基质(珠状和/或交联)。
