Opis ogólny

The gene encoding histidyl-tRNA synthetase (HARS) enzyme is located on human chromosome 5q31.3. The enzyme HARS belongs to class II aminoacyl tRNA synthetase and catalyses the attachment of the histidine to its cognate transfer RNA (tRNA). It has a catalytic and anticodon binding domain.

Histidyl-tRNA synthetase (HARS) interacts with the elongation factor 1 complex and assists in protein biosynthesis. Variants of HARS enzyme is associated with Usher syndrome.
