Amiodarone hydrochloride USP reference standard, intended for use in specified quality tests and assays as specified in the USP compendia. Also, for use with USP monographs such as:

• Amiodarone Hydrochloride Compounded Oral Suspension
• Amiodarone Hydrochloride Injection
• Amiodarone Hydrochloride Tablets

Biochem/physiol Actions

Non-selective ion channel blocker. Amiodarone induces an immediate influx of Ca²⁺ in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, followed by mitochondrial fragmentation and cell death.
