Cholinergic receptor muscarinic 3 (CHRM3) gene is located on the human chromosome at 1q43 and encodes for the M3 subtype of muscarinic acetylcholine (ACh) receptors. Muscarinic receptor 3 (M3R) is one of the five muscarinic receptors (M1R-M5R). It is a member of the class A family of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). M3R is localized to the salivary glands, lachrymal glands, trachea and bronchi.

It participates in several pathological processes of lung disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mutations in the CHRM3 gene is associated with congenital bladder malformations related to prune-belly-like syndrome (PBS).
