Descrizione generale

Gastrin releasing peptide receptor (GRP-R) belongs to the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) family. The gene for the gastrin‐releasing peptide receptor is located on the short arm of human X chromosome.

Applicazioni

Bombesin acetate salt hydrate has been used in immunohistochemical methods and food intake measurements.

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Bombesin/gastrin releasing peptide (BN/GRP) serves as an autocrine growth factor in small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Overexpression of gastrin releasing peptide receptor (GRP-R) is associated with neuroblastoma tumor aggressiveness. GRP-R modulates the important enzymes, that participates in glucose metabolism. Bombesin, a pulmonary growth factor helps to satisfy the conditions for autocrine stimulation.
Tetradecapeptide originally isolated from the skin of the frog Bombina bombina. Bombesin acts at specific brain nuclei to inhibit food intake. It also increases blood glucose levels.

Sulfonated aluminum phthalocyanines (AlPcS) are potent photosensitizers for the photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer. In this study we evaluate the possibility to improve the efficacy of AlPcS-PDT for prostate cancer by targeting tetrasulfonated aluminum phthalocyanines (AlPcS(4)) to the gastrin-releasing peptide
