Phytoene is a colorless carotenoid, that is bioavailable and may be beneficial for health. It belongs to the carotenoid family and can absorb light in the UV (ultra violet) range (λ max 287nm).

Applicazioni

(E/Z)-Phytoene has been used as a reference standard to prepare the standard curve in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Phytoene acts as precursors for other carotenoids in nature. It can also serve as free radical quenchers, DNA protectors and anti-inflammatory agents.
