Descrizione generale

Ammonium acetate (NH₄C₂H₃O₂) is water soluble, hygroscopic ammonium salt. It is ecofriendly and inexpensive,[1] which can be prepared by reacting glacial acetic acid with ammonia or ammonium carbonate. It is commonly utilized in dye industry and as meat preservative.[2] It participates in the generation of sol-gel formaldehyde sensors utilized for detecting formaldehyde in air samples.[3] Neutron energy-gain spectrum of ammonium acetate has been recorded which gives data on the atomic motions.[4] It has been reported to regenerate aldehydes from bisulfite addition products and diacetates in the absence of solvent and under microwave condition.[1]

Applicazioni

Ammonium acetate may be used as a component of mobile phase for HPLC analysis.[5]
It may be used in the synthesis of the following:

• Phenanthroline derivatives employed as corrosion inhibitors.[6]
• Highly substituted imidazoles.[7]
• 2,4-Diarylpolyhydroquinoline derivatives.[8]
