Description générale

Androstenedione is a hormone and intermediate in the biochemical pathway for producing testosterone, estrone, and estradiol. This Certified Spiking Solution® is suitable for use as starting material in linearity standards, calibrators, and controls for numerous LC/MS and GC/MS applications in endocrinology, clinical chemistry, neonatal screening, and sports testing.

Application

<ul>
<li><strong>Steroid biosynthesis studies:</strong> The utility of androstenedione solution in dried blood spot analysis via liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry is highlighted, providing a method applicable for newborn screening for congenital adrenal hyperplasia and other steroid-related disorders (Zhan et al., 2022).</li>
<li><strong>Hormone precursor biochemical research:</strong> A method for the simultaneous measurement of testosterone, androstenedione, and dehydroepiandrosterone in human serum using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was developed, supporting research in hormone biosynthesis and metabolism (Xu et al., 2017).</li>
<li><strong>Anabolic steroid research:</strong> A study on the application of a UHPLC-MS/MS method for the determination of 17 steroidal hormones, including androstenedione, in equine serum, is crucial for advancing research in doping and physiological studies (Genangeli et al., 2017).
