Novec 7100 Flüssigkeit besteht aus zwei untrennbaren Isomeren mit weitgehend identischen Eigenschaften. Dabei handelt es sich um (CF3)2CFCF2OCH3 (CAS-Nr. 163702-08-7) und CF3CF2CF2CF2OCH3 (CAS-Nr. 163702-07-6).
Novec™ 7100 Engineered Fluid ist ein proprietäres Methoxy-Nonafluorbutan von 3M™. Dieser Hydrofluorether ist eine klare, farblose und geruchsarme Flüssigkeit, die entwickelt wurde, um ozonabbauende Substanzen und Verbindungen mit hohem Treibhauspotenzial in vielen Anwendungen zu ersetzen. Es schädigt nicht die Ozonschicht. Dank des hohen Siedepunkts und der geringen Oberflächenspannung ist es ideal geeignet für die Anwendung in der Dampfentfettung – in unverdünnter Form, als azeotrope Komponente oder als Zusatzlösungsmittel für die Teilereinigung. Außerdem ist es chemisch und thermisch stabil, nicht entflammbar und gering toxisch und somit geeignet für viele weitere Anwendungen als Industrie- und Speziallösungsmittel.
