When reconstituted and filter sterilized, this medium is expected to have a similar shelf-life as prepared 1X Medium 199 with Hanks salts and L-glutamine. See product 51322C for the prepared liquid medium. This product has an expiration date of 1 year from the date of quality release. Upon the addition of serum or other heat-sensitive components, the shelf life would be limited to 1 - 2 weeks at 2 - 8°C. Freeze/thaw cycles may result in precipitate formation.

General description
Medium 199 ist eine Kombination aus Vitaminen, Aminosäuren und anderen Faktoren, die ursprünglich als vollständig definierte Medienformulierung zum Kultivieren von Primärexplantaten entwickelt wurde. Wenn dieses Medium richtig ergänzt wird, weist es eine breite Anwendbarkeit auf, insbesondere für nicht transformierte Zellen. Medium 199 wird verbreitet für die Vakzinherstellung, In-vitro-Kultivierung von Primärexplantaten des Pankreas und Linsengewebe eingesetzt.
Application
Medium 199 has been used:
- to test and determine the pH sensitivity of the sensors in a complex environment
- as a culture medium during oocyte harvesting
- as a component of Leishmania donovani (LdBOB) promastigote media for culturing L. donovani
- to culture visceral adipose tissue explants
Preparation Note
Formulated to contain 10.6 grams of powder per liter of medium.
Supplement with 0.35 g/L sodium bicarbonate.
