Description

General description

Native plasminogen from human plasma. Plasminogen is a single chain glycoprotein found in normal plasma at ~12 mg per deciliter, and is the inactive precursor of the serine protease plasmin.

Native plasminogen from human plasma. Single chain glycoprotein containing 790 amino acid residues. Found in normal plasma at about 12 mg/100 ml. Inactive precursor of the serine protease plasmin. Plasminogen is converted to the active protease by cleavage at Arg⁵⁶⁰.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 20 mM Tris-HCl, 2 mM EDTA, pH 7.5.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 week at 4°C or for up to 2 months at -20°C.

Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.

Other Notes

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will hydrolyze 1 µmol of N-tosyl-Arg ethyl ester in 30 min at 37°C, pH 8.0.
