General description

Tetrandrine (TET) is classified under the bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid family of compounds extracted from Stephania tetrandra S. Moore.

application

Analgesic, antipyretic.
TET may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of TET in:
  • Blood samples by online multidimensional solid phase extraction liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (MD-SPE-LC-MS/MS) equipped with electrospray ionization (ESI) source and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) detection.
  • Rat plasma by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) combined with MS/MS with MRM detection.
  • Qi-Fang-Xi-Bi-Granules used in Chinese medicine by reversed phase HPLC equipped with ultraviolet (UV) detector.
  • Fangji Huangqi Tang Chinese medicine by UHPLC coupled to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (QqQ-MS) with MRM detection.

It may be used as an internal standard for the determination of hernandezine in:
  • Rat plasma and tissues by UHPLC-MS/MS with MRM detection.

Oxidative damage is closely involved in the development of doxorubicin- (DOX-) induced cardiotoxicity. It has been reported that tetrandrine can prevent the development of cardiac hypertrophy by suppressing reactive oxygen species- (ROS-) dependent signaling pathways in mice. However, whether tetrandrine
