生化／生理作用
超氧化物歧化酶催化超氧化物自由基的歧化反应生成过氧化氢和分子氧。它在细胞防御氧自由基的毒性作用方面发挥着重要作用。它 与一氧化氮(NO)竞争超氧化物阴离子（可与NO反应生成过亚硝酸盐），因此SOD能促进NO的活性。在培养的大鼠卵泡、神经细胞系和转基因小鼠中，SOD也表现出抑制细胞凋亡的作用。
單位定義
在 25℃、pH 7.8 的黄嘌呤氧化酶偶联系统中，1 个单位将抑制细胞色素 c 减少 50%（反应体积 3.0 mL）。黄嘌呤氧化酶浓度应每分钟 产生 0.025±0.005 初始 ΔA 550 。
