Digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG) is a galactosylglycerolipid, which is a major lipid component in the thylakoid membrane of leaf chloroplasts. It is also present in the fruits, grains and roots.[1] DGDG is synthesized from Monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) by the enzyme DGDG synthase DGD1 .[2]

生化/生理作用

Digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG) along with monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) is involved in chloroplast membrane biogenesis and photosynthesis. DGDG and MGDG are responsible for the intake of proteins into the chloroplast.[2]
