白蛋白在肝脏中产生，是血浆中丰度最高的蛋白质。[1]

已确知白蛋白为脂肪酸(FA)载体（一般的白蛋白产品仍然结合少量脂肪酸）。由于不同细胞株对于脂肪酸的敏感度并不相同，在细胞培养中控制特定脂肪酸含量因而显得较为重要。无脂肪酸人血清白蛋白(HSA)适合必需严控特定脂肪酸含量的细胞培养研究，使研究人员可根据实验细胞株性质选用特定的脂肪酸。在细胞培养中无脂肪酸白蛋白还可为特定脂肪酸提供最佳和最多的结合位点。无脂肪酸HSA还可解决非无脂肪酸HSA潜在的内源性脂肪酸问题。
白蛋白是人体中最丰富的血浆蛋白。[2]白蛋白转换可见于患有缺铁性贫血的婴儿。[3]血清白蛋白是肝病可靠的预后指标。白蛋白的氧化损伤与晚期肝病有关。[4]

白蛋白在免疫分析和免疫检测程序中广泛用作封闭剂和抗体稀释载体蛋白。认识到人血清白蛋白(HSA)中存在潜在的少量内源性球蛋白/IgG十分重要，因为这些少量球蛋白/IgG在免疫检测中会成为可结合二抗的抗原（而干扰检测）。本品经过极低球蛋白含量/基本无球蛋白的测试。

应用

来自人血清的白蛋白已用在葡萄糖溶液中制备糖化人血清白蛋白（gHSA）。[5]它也已用在研究中评估表面纳米形貌和化学成分对血液相容性的影响。[6]
白蛋白用于测试其对头孢托仑对耐青霉素的肺炎链球菌的体外杀菌活性的影响。 [7] 它已在临床上用于严重和经常危及生命的情况，例如由于外伤、烧伤和手术引起的休克和失血。[1]它也用于测试非酶糖基化对人血清白蛋白解折叠的影响。[5]

    1. The amino acid sequence and structure of human albumin have been determined. Human albumin is a protein with no carbohydrate content. It is a single polypeptide chain with one free sulfhydryl group on residue # 34 and 17 intrachain disulfide bonds.

      Kindly review the following citation that explains "conditions that favor partly destabilized monomers and dimers, such as low pH, high temperature, and the presence of chemical denaturants".

  3. Is it possible that the dried powder contains traces of salts? Specifically, was it lyophilized from PBS, saline, or a salt solution?

    1. The albumin from human serum (product number A3782) was in contact with deionized water before lyophilization, which was extensively processed to remove salts. While trace amounts of sodium caprylate may be present, this is not tested for. The claim that the product is salt-free is based solely on the manufacturing method described above.
