General description

A cell-permeable, nonsterol, benzenesulfonamide compound that acts as a highly selective and potent liver X receptor agonist (EC₅₀ of 20 nM for LXR_α). Reported to induce the expression of genes associated with fatty acid biosynthesis and raise both the levels of serum HDL cholesterol and triglyceride in mice. Also reduces the development of atherosclerosis in LDL receptor-deficient mice and lowers plasma glucose in diabetic rodents.
