黄原胶是一种阴离子多糖,由β-(1→4)-D-吡喃葡萄糖葡聚糖骨架和交替残基上的(1→3)-α-D-吡喃甘露糖-(2→1)-β-D-葡萄糖醛酸-(4→1)-β-D-吡喃甘露糖侧链组成。大约一半的末端甘露糖残基是4,6-丙酮酸,而大多数内部甘露糖残基则是6-乙酰化的。 其特性使其成为有用的药物递送系统基质成分。 它在水性介质和含有刺槐豆胶或瓜尔胶的软凝胶中可形成稳定的药物混悬液。 黄原胶可模拟脂质的质地,在研究小鼠体内由消耗含脂质试剂引发的信号转导途径实验中用作对照。
