L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is a water-soluble vitamin that is essential for growth and repair of tissue. Quantification of vitamin C levels is performed to evaluate vitamin C deficiency.

L-Ascorbic acid solution (Vitamin C) may be used as a certified reference material (CRM) for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations,[1] fruits and vegetables,[2] wines[3] and biological samples[3] by chromatography and spectrophotometry techniques.

This reference solution is suitable for use as starting material in the preparation of linearity standards, calibrators, or controls for identification of L-ascorbic acid in clinical diagnostic testing of biological samples or quality control testing of vitamin C foods or dietary supplements using HPLC with ultraviolet (UV) or electrochemical (EC) detection.
