Reaction of bromomethyl phenyl sulfone with potassium thiophenoxide in dimethyl formamide gave phenylthiomethyl phenyl sulfone.[1] It undergoes disproportionation with KOH in DMSO at room temperature to yield methyl phenyl sulfone and dibromomethyl phenyl sulfone.[2]
