Ascentis® Express 2.0 μm F5は、Fused-Core®粒子設計に基づく高速UHPLCカラムです。この粒子設計では、多孔性殻における厚さ0.4 μmの浅い拡散経路と、全体の粒子径が2 μmと小さいことにより、非常に高いカラム効率が示されます。Ascentis® Express 2.0 μm F5の結合され、エンドキャップされたジメチルペンタフルオロフェニルプロピル固定相は、電気的陰性のフッ素が存在しているため、電子が不足しているフェニル環を用いた安定した逆相パッキングをもたらします。また、F5相は、pi-piおよび穏やかな立体相互作用に加えて、極性相互作用で化合物を保持します。極性と非極性の特性を持つF5相は、デュアルモードの保持挙動を示し、移動相のアセトニトリル含量に応じてしばしば「U字型」の保持をもたらし、ACNの低濃度と高濃度の両方で保持が増加します（逆相およびHILIC保持モード）。Ascentis® Express 2.0 μm F5は、塩基性、酸性、または中性の化合物に使用でき、C18とは別の選択性を有しています。
