ガルシノールは、HAT(ヒストンアセチルトランスフェラーゼ)インヒビターです。ガルシノールは抗炎症作用や抗がん作用を有しています。ヒストンアセチルトランスフェラーゼによって、クロマチンリモデリングや遺伝子発現のエピジェネティック制御とは逆の酵素機構がもたらされます。HATは形質転換、転写、分化、アポトーシス、胚発生や発がんの調節に関与しています。IC50 p300は7 mM、IC50 PCAFは5 mMです(アナカルジン酸と同等)。ガルシノールはLTK-14よりも毒性が強く、p300とPCAFを区別しません。
